The first Chartered Accountant in India
The first Indian to be issued a membership certificate by ICAI was C. A. Gopal Das Padamsey Kapadiya
The membership certificate was issued to him on 9th June, 1950
He was one of the Founder members and the first president of ICAI. He was also the longest serving president in the history of ICAI (1949-1952).
The first rank holder in CA exam is awarded GP Kapadiya gold medal in his memory.
